The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center (TPC) is honored to present Internal Revenue Service (IRS) commissioner John Koskinen as part of its Distinguished Speaker Series. Commissioner Koskinen will join TPC director Mark Mazur for a conversation reflecting on Koskinen’s four years at the IRS and addressing the challenges, both present and future, facing tax administration.
The commissioner is responsible for the successful operation of the nation’s tax system, including the collection of over $3 trillion in tax revenue each year. Commissioner Koskinen led key initiatives during his time at the IRS, including overseeing the Security Summit effort with the states and private sector to combat identity theft and address cybersecurity, as well as the implementation of tax laws including the Affordable Care Act and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.
