A fundamental digital transformation, when fully realized, would greatly improve all aspects of the IRS’s work. This transformation has three key elements that are essential to modernizing the IRS.  

Effective methods are available to combat fraud and abuse, and the right strategies can lead to significant improvements. 

It is time to repeal the half-century-old Budget and Impoundment Control Act, which structures the way Congress writes its fiscal plans, and create something new.

TPC estimates that economic growth from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), as passed by the House, would offset less than 10 percent of its $2.3 trillion net cost. The bill’s policies, macroeconomic effects, and interest costs would increase federal debt by $3.0 trillion, or 7 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), by 2034. Within 25 years, these higher deficits would lead to a decline in GDP.

The Senate still has time to deliver on the pro-family promises made by many Republican leaders, by amending the budget bill to provide balanced economic relief for all families.
